pH Colours

 Aim: 

I want to find out what the colours of pH are.

Method:

Equipment
  • Acid- Hydrochloric Acid
  • Base- Sodium Hydroxide
  • Test Tube Rack with test tubes
  • Universal indicator 
  • Red cabbage Ph Indicator  
Instructions
  1. Get your equipment.
  2. Put 10 drops of Universal Indicator into the test tube.
  3. Add different amounts of acid and base into the test tube.
  4. Watch what happens to the colour.
Results:


Discussion:
  1. When you put acid and base together it neutralise it.
  2. An acid is any substance that in water solution tastes sour, changes blue litmus paper to red.
  3. You can measure your acid with a test tube or a special device called a pH probe.
  4. The pH colours are between 3 parts of ROYGBIV and they are acidic, Neutral and alkaline.
